Fabulous Fabric Graphics

Printed fabric mounted in frames, is a fantastic method for creating seamless graphics in both freestanding and wall mounted spaces.

Faber Technology Ltd, a polymer injection moulding company based in Newtown Powys, had booked a 16m x 5m L-shaped space at the Tackle and Gun Show held at Stoneleigh each October. Faber Technology had some eye-catching designs, which enabled Kyoti Graphics to install fabulous fabric graphics using freestanding, tension fabric, backwall displays.

The displays are simple to assemble using one tool. The graphics can be produced at widths up to 3m and lengths up to 50m. But larger sizes can also be produced using an almost invisible seam. The graphics are simple to fit and remove, and can be rolled or folded for convenient transportation and storage.

In addition to exhibition spaces, tension fabric displays are also great for wall mounted displays, freestanding flat or curved displays, and can incorporate LED light boxes and accessories such as literature holders and poseur tables.

Contact Kyoti Graphics or call 0800 046 9899 to learn more about how you can include some fabulous fabric graphics in your next exhibition, showroom, reception or internal display.

£1 Million Business Investment Fund for England's Creative SMEs - New Round Open

Creative England's Business Investment Fund was set up last year to support the growth strategies of ambitious, non-London-based, creative companies in England that plan to grow through the development and commercialisation of innovative content and cross-platform applications.

The second round of the scheme has now been launched. The main target for investment for 'Business Investment Fund 2' will be companies that plan to exploit commercial opportunities in one or more of these areas:

  • Cross Platform TV development
  • feature film production
  • Healthcare
  • Government Services
  • Games, Interactive Entertainment and Mobile Content
  • Business To Business
  • E-Learning
  • Mobile applications

There is a total of £1 million available for 2013/14, to be allocated as interest-free loans of between £60,000 and £100,000 per application. The loans can account for up to 70% of the total development budget for the project with the remaining 30% to be secured by the applicant. This 30% must be in cash and not in-kind.

Investments are intended to assist companies with the development of linear and non-linear and interactive media content that has a clear route to market and the potential to generate significant value for the company in terms of subsequent production investment and IP exploitation.

Eligible costs include:

  • Labour Costs: The cost of key staff employed on a full or part time basis by the company.
  • External specialist costs: consultants working on part of the project to carry out tasks; including fees and expenses for researchers/consultants, scriptwriters, production managers and other freelance specialists.
  • Capital equipment and materials costs where these assets are used solely for the project.
  • Other costs: production costs not covered above and associated with screen tests, taster tapes and pilots and licensing of new technology.

Applications are invited from creative small to medium-sized companies (SMEs) in England that are based outside of London. In line with the Regional Growth Fund objective, priority will be given to companies based in the North, West Midlands and South West regions.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest for this round of funding is 21 August 2013. Full applications must then be submitted by 4 October 2013.

Love Shrewsbury, You'll Love New Website

The wrap has officially been taken off an exciting new website for Shrewsbury today. Love Shrewsbury has been set-up to celebrate everything that is positive about the county town, promising to deliver the very best for Shrewsbury in terms of news, what’s on, business and much more.

Loveshrewsbury.com brings together various strands and areas of the town – and the site has immediately been attracting positive feedback from Councillors, local townspeople and business owners within hours of launching. There is already the unique chance for visitors to the website to enter a competition to win free tickets to the Fields Forever festival at the Shrewsbury Showground in September.

The What’s On zone of the website enables people to discover the wide variety of events that are taking place across the town and this is enhanced by the Tourism area, which highlights things of interest to those considering spending a day, weekend or even a week in Shrewsbury. A Community zone will showcase worthwhile community initiatives and is destined to become a popular feature with site visitors, whilst other areas of the new website include Pulse, an area for younger residents of the town – and finally business, for the commercial community of Shrewsbury.

The Love Shrewsbury site has been set-up via a partnership of Michael Tinkler owner ofthe increasingly popular Severn Magazine, Peter White and Nathan Bensley-Edwards from The Web Orchard and Habib Malik-Mansell, Marketing Assistant at the Hive in Shrewsbury.

Habib Malik-Mansell said “We are excited to finally be launching the Love Shrewsbury website. Based on the positive response so far, we are confident that the Love Shrewsbury website is just what is needed to promote all that is positive about the town, encouraging a sense of community and pride in everything that Shrewsbury has to offer – for both those who live and work here, plus tourists from elsewhere”.

People are invited to check out the new website for themselves, by visiting http://www.loveshrewsbury.com/

Institute of Internal Communication Awards invites entries

The Institute of Internal Communication has updated the IoIC Awards to celebrate the kind of work being done every day by IC professionals in the UK, and entries are now invited for the 2012 awards.

The awards cover everything from campaigns, digital media and print media to writing and design.

New awards for 2012 include two innovation categories – most innovative use of media and ‘game changer’ (looking for imagination in practice that expands our sense of what might be possible in internal communication). There is also a dedicated event category this year.

The Institute’s ICon accolades are being included in the IoIC Awards event to showcase at one time and in one place the best of the best in the sector. The ICons celebrate individual work, recognising editors, designers, writers, photographers, agencies, IC managers and teams.

Awards chairman Paul Brasington comments: “In 2012 we’re pulling everything together: one award scheme, one awards dinner. We aim to create a real and telling snapshot of internal communication practice, celebrating excellence, setting down markers from which everyone can learn."

The entry deadline is 17th February and the awards dinner will be held at the Hilton Park Lane in London on 15th June.

Entry packs can be downloaded at www.ioic.org.uk
